What Is IB Bio HL?
IB Biology Higher Level is a 240-hour two-year course covering everything in SL plus five HL-only topics: nucleic acids, metabolism (cell respiration & photosynthesis), plant biology, deeper genetics & evolution, and animal physiology. HL students take longer Paper 1 and Paper 2 exams plus a Paper 3 with an additional option topic. It is the standard prerequisite for medicine, dentistry, biomedical sciences and biology degrees globally.
