Building Study Stamina: A Parent's Guide to Focused Practice
Top scorers do not study longer — they study with sharper focus. Here is how to coach focus at home without nagging.

Stamina is a skill
Deep focus for 60–90 minutes is the single biggest predictor of academic outcomes from Class 9 onwards. The good news: it can be trained.
The home environment - A dedicated desk (not the bed). - Phone in another room during study blocks. - A visible weekly plan on the wall.
The Pomodoro upgrade Classic Pomodoro is 25/5. For exam-prep students, switch to **50 minutes focus + 10 minutes movement**. Three blocks before lunch, three after — that is a serious 6-hour day.
What parents should NOT do - Do not sit beside your child during study. - Do not interrupt with snacks or "just a quick question". - Do not ask "did you finish?" — ask "what did you understand today?".
When to bring in a mentor If your child is putting in hours but not improving, the issue is usually study technique, not effort. A mentor diagnoses this in one session.
